Horsemanship Education

The 2024 lesson season is now closed. Lessons will resume April 2025.

My personal experience with horses, and the many years of seeing the benefits and impacts of the human-horse relationship, has made me passionate about educating humans about, and with, horses. I want you to be a better horse person, not just a better rider. Whether you are a horse owner or horse-less horse enthusiast, I want to provide the place for you to learn, experience, improve your skills, and enrich your life by becoming an educated horse person.

This program is for anyone 5 yrs and older. The emphasis of my teaching, as part of building a relationship with a horse, is safety, the basics of ground handling, grooming, saddling, and riding with balance and control. All riders are required to wear a helmet. If you don’t have one, we have extra helmets available for your use. You can ride Western or English, the fundamentals of being a good, balanced rider are the same regardless of the saddle you use.

If you don’t have a horse but want to learn to ride, we have experienced lesson horses available for you to have a safe and positive experience. If you don’t want to ride a horse but want to learn more about them, there is an Equine Companion Program to provide an opportunity to be around horses safely and interact with them from the ground.

I customize lessons to meet you and your horse’s needs. I can help you solve/manage behavior problems. Are you are a new horse owner? Did you get your horse back from the trainer and need follow-up support? Do you need to build, or have you lost, confidence? I can help you with that and more.
